What is the essence of what you do?
To me, the essence of being a physical therapist is promoting a better quality of life without any use of drugs or surgical intervention. I make my patients better, stronger and faster using revolutionary and affordable treatment and most of all, my patients love it!
What are your personal interests?
I am an avid skier. My favorite places to ski are Aspen, Colorado and Alta, Utah. I love scuba diving at the colorful and maze-like underwater world of Cozumel, Mexico. I’ve belonged to an outdoor organization called Club Extreme since I was in college. As a part of this organization, I have been able to go wall climbing, spelunking, mountain climbing and target shooting. I was even featured twice on TV in a local program called “Extreme Games.” I took my first surfing lessons when I was in Hawaii 12 years ago, right after that, I quickly found an instructor to continue with lessons here on the east coast. When I am not outside, I am a huge football fan and eagerly await the start of each season! Exploring culture is a passion I have developed over the years, and I love to explore this through travel and museums. Lastly, I have been playing the piano since I was 7 years old and when time permits I still enjoy playing to this day.

What do you believe?
I believe in Walt Disney’s saying, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” I take the challenge being presented to me, no matter how hard or impossible it may seem, just by trying my best. And by loving what I do for a living, it makes it easier and more fun! Doing the impossible doesn’t happen without planning and executing steps one at a time. What do you like most about working with patients?
Working with my patients is not merely making them feel better…it goes both ways for me. The fact that I see them getting better and having a much enjoyable life, to me is more than rewarding. I like seeing and hearing from them how I made a difference in their life where they can enjoy both work and home activities, being able to do what they use to do and beyond. I had a patient come up to me and say, “Because I am able to function well, I feel rejuvenated, feel better about myself and I’m able to have a better relationship with my spouse again.”Sandra Gail Frayna

Why did you choose to become a physical therapist?
Inspired by my dad’s wisdom and persistence, I chose to be a PT when I came to understand that PT is a cutting edge science and became fascinated about how it can make the body heal quicker.
